The author provides a history of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), more commonly called Ecstasy, and describes how "Ecstasy came out of European clubs in resort locales such as Ibiza in the 1980s, and peaked in the 1990s when raves began to infiltrate nightlife....In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the rave scene and techno-music migrated to the U.S. by way of promoters and entertainers."
