Summary, etc. |
The evidence is everywhere: someone is out to destroy Le Guide, the most famous and prestigious restaurant directory in all of France. A false death announcement about le Directeur was planted in the leading newspapers. Piranhas in the fountain outside the entrance are dining on goldfish and hoping for a typist. Only Le Guide's star critic and erstwhile detective Monsieur Pamplemousse (and his faithful canine sidekick Pommes Frites) are fit to find the culprit. And the worst is yet to come. For the villain has invaded the journal's brand new computer system, an unspeakable act of sabotage that threatens to make Le Guide the laughingstock of France. Unless Monsieur Pamplemousse finds the fiend by Friday, only three days away, Le Guide will be forced to delay publication, an unprecedented disgrace! Yes, the evidence is plentiful, but clues are scarce. Could it be the austere Madame Grant, head of accounting, with her strange bedclothes and even stranger bed habits? It's a mystery that will have Monsieur Pamplemousse wearing some very strange clothes himself, as he and Pommes Frites discover that the real solution is for the birds. And it's a rare dish indeed... |
