"The source of arsenic poisoning in the water is the soil because of some geochemical changes over the years. It is a newly emerging global danger first noticed on a large scale two years ago in Bangladesh and India, where there are approximately 40 million people at risk from drinking arsenic-contaminated water." (CHINA DAILY) The author reports that an alarming number of villagers in China are suffering from arsenic poisoning due to contaminated groundwater.
